Home > What-to-see-and-do > Brickfields Horsecountry and Brickfields Riding School
This unique attraction has been welcoming visitors for over 20 years. Home to the Isle of Wight Shire Horses, Miniature Shetland Ponies, Donkeys and various farm animals, a visit to the centre is a must for all animal lovers. Brickfields boast a wonderful horse drawn carriage collection and throughout the day tours of the museum are available with a guide, giving visitors an opportunity to glimpse back into the past.
As well as meeting the magnificent gentle giants the Shire Horses and the cheeky Shetland ponies, be entertained by watching the Blacksmith at work in the forge shoeing one of the horses. Tractor rides are good fun too, in the summer months the tractor ride runs to Porkers Paradise where you can cheer on the highly trained racing pigs who are put through their paces in the Lester piglet Derby. Although the horses capture the hearts of the visitors many return to watch the pigs race time and time again!
Pony rides are very popular with the children, many adults have a go as well. There is a BHS approved riding school on site with a good selection of horses and ponies catering for all abilities from beginners through to experienced riders. The indoor arena is overlooked by the café and bar where you can enjoy a snack through to a full meal while watching lessons or events taking place. There is a saddlery and gift shop which sells lovely souvenirs. Brickfields is open daily and car parking is free of charge.
