Home > What-to-see-and-do > Wight Llama Treks
Wight Llama Treks offer the unique and relaxing experience of walking with llamas in the beautiful countryside of the Isle of Wight.
Llamas are pack animals distantly related to camels and have been domesticated by the peoples of the high Andes for transporting goods up and down the mountainsides. Our llamas are friendly docile and trained to walk on a lead rope. The older llamas carry a pack to transport refreshments, first aid kit etc.
Every adult who treks with us on the Standard Trek, Family Trek or Sunset Trek will lead their own llama. Children are very welcome and must be accompanied by an adult with whom they share their llama. Small groups are guaranteed as we take a maximum of 5 llamas per trek.
Refreshments are provided on some treks, ranging from homemade cakes and a drink on the standard trek and half a bottle of non-vintage champagne per couple, with strawberries and cream on the Sunset Trek. The family trek does not include refreshments.
Treks take place year round, in most weather. Cancellations (with refund) will be made if the weather is severe.
No specialist equipment is required, just stout shoes and the ability to walk for about 2 hours over undulating ground.
Large groups, youth groups and corporate events can be accommodated on request. We can even offer birthday treks for children's parties.
Booking by phone or email is essential for all treks.
