Home > Places to Visit on the Isle of Wight > Isle of Wight Beach Guide

There are currently 13 award winning beaches on the Isle of Wight all of which are managed and maintained to the highest standard. In order for the Isle of Wight to gain these awards the beaches have to meet strict criteria as laid down by EnCams. For example the water quality must meet the standards of the Bathing Water Directive. For up to date results and water quality history www.iwight.com.
Isle of Wight beaches and esplanades are inspected daily to ensure that they are clean and safe for our visitors. When visiting our beaches please follow the guidelines to help us to maintain this standard. There are operators at some beaches that are able to offer deck chair and sun lounger hire.
As an Island we are commited to the safety of our residents and visitors and would like you to read our page on "Seaside Safety and Always Regard the Sea with Caution".
Note to dog owners - Between May and September, dogs are restricted to certain areas of beach and banned on all central resort beaches. Tourist Information Centres have a leaflet for your guidance.
