This small and sandy beach is tucked away on the quieter west coast of the Island with panoramic views of the Solent. The beach is unspoilt and is a popular location for locals and visitors.

Colwell Bay provides entertainment for all ages. With local Cafes providing catering to suit all tastes, deckchairs, beach huts, water sports and the local amusement arcade.

A gentle walk along the promenade links you with Totland Bay. Water sports are a popular activity at this location and the Water Safety Zoning is provided to ensure that bathers and recreational users are separated. 

Emergency equipment such as Lifebelts are strategically located along the Esplanade in order to ensure safety at any time of the year. The Inshore Rescue is also close at hand and are always on call by the Coastguard.

During the summer season Colwell beach is litter picked on a daily basis and large amounts of seaweed are removed and taken to local farmers for use as compost.

Colwell is not only a winner of the Quality Coast Award but has also been successful in displaying its Water Quality award which has been the highest standard for the last five years.

Like anywhere, Colwell has its natural hazards so be sure to read the safety guidelines and have a good time. Information is provided at each area so check the tide timetables to ensure your own safety.
