The IW Garlic Festival
The Isle of Wight is a food lovers paradise and what better time to visit that during the Island’s annual garlic festival.
The festival takes place between 14 – 15 August, at Newchurch on the Isle of Wight and features a whole array of garlic delicacies. Organisers advise arriving hungry as there is a vast choice of local produce with a garlic twist on offer. From quirky garlic beer and ice cream to local meats and fish cooked in garlic, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
As well as garlic themed food, the festival features over 300 arts and craft stalls and a packed schedule of entertainment throughout the weekend. This year, the main stage features The Wurzels on Saturday and glam-rockers, The Glitter Band on Sunday, both supported by Island bands throughout the weekend.
While munching on garlic treats, watch the death defying Vander brothers as they perform their Wheel of Death stunts for the crowd. For the youngsters, there are dancing dog displays, Punch and Judy shows and magic displays throughout the weekend.
Why not make a weekend of it and visit one of the Island’s many golden beaches. A host of last minute accommodation can be found on our official Isle of Wight tourism website as well as details of restaurants and pubs serving local produce.
