Father's Day on the Isle of Wight

The Isle of Wight is the perfect place for a Father's Day getaway. With a wide range of events and experiences to enjoy, why not hop on the ferry and treat dad to something special this Father’s Day (20 June).

From sporty dads to gardening dads, nature loving dads to creative dads, the Island is a great place for families wanting to spend some time together to celebrate the occasion – either before the big event or on the day.

Sporty Dads: JP Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race – Saturday 19 June

What better way for Dad to flex his muscles and prove himself than taking part in the JP Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race. Open to everyone from amateur sailors to Olympic and World Champions as well as children over 8 years old, there is still time to register your boat on www.roundtheisland.org.uk.

Alternatively sign up to race with one of the many charter companies. Pelican Racing offers a Round the Island racing experience for £200 including skipper, waterproofs and lifejacket. Contact Pelican Racing on 01983 201581 for more details or visit their website.

Gardening Dads: Shorwell Midsummer Fair, Saturday 19 June 1-5pm

Located in the beautiful gardens of Northcourt, a 16th Century Manor House in the centre of Shorwell Village, this traditional village fair celebrates its 50th anniversary with stalls, displays, events, games, food and many attractions. Fun for all the family with all proceeds going to local charities.

Something different for dad: Father’s Day Specials at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway – 20 June

Steam Trains are just made for Dads! Your dad, whatever his age, will enjoy a day out at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. Whether it’s reminiscing about travelling on steam trains as a boy, checking out all the engineering stuff, or maybe he’s secretly always dreamt of being a train driver! All dads travelling on the train will receive a free gift and the Railway’s refreshment Rooms will be open all day for meals and refreshments.

Hungry Dads:

Why not treat dad to a Father’s Day lunch at The Priory Bay Hotel, or try one of the many village inns serving real ale and Dad-sized portions like The Taverners at Godshill, a real country pub that’s popular with locals and visitors alike.
