News just released that pop sensation Little Boots has been added to the Isle of Wight Festival line-up comes as a timely reminder – don’t forget to dig out your little (medium or large) hiking boots for the biggest walking event of the year – the Isle of Wight Walking Festival, 8-23 May.
With around two hundred and fifty guided walks held over sixteen days, the Isle of Wight Walking Festival is a fantastic outdoor event that attracts around 15,000 visitors per year. Walks range from morning, afternoon and evening ambles to strenuous long-distance walks for experienced ramblers. Look out for ancient monuments, view some outstanding natural scenery, learn about the fascinating wildlife, history and landscape, or just walk and talk while enjoying the Isle of Wight as it bursts into spring.
And of particular interested to pop aficionados will be a walk dedicated to remembering and celebrating the massive Isle of Wight Festivals of bygone years.
Hendrix in the West Wight (1970-2010) is a 3-mile, circular walk from the Hendrix Garden at Dimbola Lodge, Freshwater Bay, to the site of the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival where Keith Moon, Jim Morrison and the legendary Jimi Hendrix all featured in the greatest line-up ever assembled. This walk takes place on Friday 14th May and includes a visit to the permanent festival exhibition at Dimbola Lodge.
Those taking a holiday on the Isle of Wight in June will have the opportunity to see pop songstress, Little Boots, aka Victoria Hesketh, for a very special one-off performance on the Acoustic Stage at the Isle of Wight Festival on Saturday 12 June. One of her few live gigs this summer, festival goers will be treated to an exclusive, stripped back set giving a new twist to her snyth-soaked melodies.
Little Boots joins the raft of superstars who will be journeying to the Isle of Wight in June including Sir Paul McCartney, who will be the headline act on the final day of the festival at Seaclose Park, Newport (www.isleofwightfestival.com, 11-13 June).
From coast to countryside – the choice is yours and with just a few weeks to go, now’s the time to make sure your boots are in tip-top condition and ready to serve you well during the festival fortnight. All walks can be found at www.isleofwightwalkingfestival.co.uk.
