JAZZ ON THE MEADOW

Enjoy an afternoon and evening of jazz in the beautiful surroundings of Ventnor Botanic Gardens on the Isle of Wight (www.botanic.co.uk).

Award-winning Jazz legend Courtney Pine will be headlining this exciting new event, supported by Edana Minghella and the Ric Harris Trio, plus a special guest still to be announced.

Although knows primarily for his saxophone playing, Pine is a multi-instrumentalist, also playing the flute, clarinet and keyboards.  In 1986, his debut album ‘Journey to the Urge Within’ became the first serious jazz album ever to make the British Top 40, significantly earning a Silver Disc.  Meanwhile, the last two decades have seen him go on to achieve considerable international acclaim.  Prestigiously cracking the American jazz charts along the way, while constantly remaining an inspirational figure to many young, upcoming black British musicians.

Jazz on the Meadow takes place on Saturday 22 May at 2.30pm at Ventnor Botanic Gardens on the Isle of Wight.  Doors open at 2pm. Tickets (£30 + booking fee) are available from www.seetickets.com and from the six Isle of Wight Tourist Information Centres.
