OSBORNE HOUSE SUMMER CONCERTS GO POP FOR 2010

Will Young on Saturday 31^st July with support Charley Macaulay.

Bananarama, Rick Astley, ABC, Belinda Carlisle, Howard Jones and Go West will provide the perfect ‘80’s Party Night’ on Sunday 1^st August.

One of the most unique music experiences is back at the stunning location of Osborne House on the Isle of Wight with a bill that’s bursting at the seams.

Osborne House, the royal seaside villa overlooking the Solent and probably the best known Victorian country house in Britain, will open to the public and  play host to a two night concert that sees ‘Pop Idol’ Will Young and 80’s pop princesses Bananarama headline this special event on the 31^st July and 1^st August 2010.  With one of the most exciting sporting and social events of the British calendar, Cowes Week, starting on the same weekend the Island is set for an extravaganza of entertainment across the Saturday and Sunday.

Will Young is the original ‘Pop Idol’, winning the series in 2002, he has since become most successful British male solo artist of the 2000’s and has sold over 8 million records. He will entertain the crowds at this year’s Osborne House Summer Concerts with hits spanning across 4 multi-platinum albums in a setting built for royalty – even of the music kind!

Get out your shoulder pads as ‘80’s Party Night’ is coming to the Isle of Wight. Rick Astley, ABC, Belinda Carlisle, Howard Jones and Go West join headliners Bananarama to complete the Sunday line-up which will entertain the crowd with music from one of the ‘coolest decades’.
Dust off your dancing shoes and prepare to boogie until your heart’s content as the first ladies of pop Bananarama close the weekend in true 80’s style. For over 25 years Bananarama’s name has been synonymous with great pop and dance music, and with ten top-ten UK singles, three U.S. top-ten hits and a US number one it’s easy to see why.

In 1987, the world was greeted by a new vocal talent. Shocked by the powerful, mature soulful voice of a 21 year old, the UK obliged by sending his debut single ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ to the top of the charts for five weeks. The artist was, of course, Rick Astley. The rest of the world soon followed suit and the following two years saw Rick continue to dominate the charts around the globe. Rick will be performing the songs that made him famous at this year’s concert.

Part of the New Romantic movement and hailing from Sheffield, ABC charted ten UK and five US Top 40 singles between 1981 and 1990 and are best known for combining synthesizers with orchestra to produce a polished, bright pop-oriented sound. Fans will take a trip down memory lane with the much loved 80’s band.

Since her departure from The Go-Go’s Belinda Carlisle has gone on to become a phenomenally successful solo artist. Fans will be entertained with her hits ‘Leave A Light On, ‘Circle in the Sand’ and the number one classic ‘Heaven is a Place on Earth’

Howard Jones had an impressive run of hits throughout the 80’s and 90’s. With a large and loyal fanbase he has continued to be one of the most talented writers and performers out there and will be joining his 80’s peers on stage at Osborne House.

Peter Cox and Richard Drummie make up Go West. Their self titled album ‘GO WEST’ sold 1.5 million copies worldwide and established the pair as a chart force and one of the greatest singer-songwriter duos to emerge in the 80’s. 2010 is the 25^th Anniversary of the release of the band’s first album and they are on the road again.

Charley Macaulay’s sensational voice, uplifting sound and innovative writing style has won her much desired praise and attention, and has established her as one of the UK’s most exciting new talents. Reaching Number One in the UK Undiscovered Chart, Charley is destined for a bright future and will be supporting Will Young.
