MEN OF WIGHT MORRIS DANCERS
The Men of Wight Morris Dancers are hosting a weekend of dance for 100 visiting Morris Dancers on the 21,22 and 23 August. They will tour the Isle of Wight on 22nd August dancing at various tourist spots around the Island and finish the tour with a trip on hovercraft kindly provide by Hovertravel, to the Brambles Bank at Bembridge, which is where the QE2 went aground on her final voyage!
The Men of Wight are hosting what is called a Ring meeting. There are up to five of these each year in the UK. This is where Morris Dancers who are members of the Morris Ring (which is the Governing Body of Morris Dancing in the UK) gather to dance and tour the local area. There will be Morris dancers from as far afield as Bristol and Colchester. Some of the tourist spots they will dance at are Carisbrooke Castle and Havenstreet Railway - normal admission rates apply.
There will be massed displays on Sandown Seafront at 4 pm on the Saturday and 12:30 pm on Sunday on Cowes Seafront which are open to all.
