TIGER ISLAND IS A ROARING SUCCESS AT TV AWARDS

Makers of ITV Meridian's 'Tiger Island' have picked up a prestigious television award. The series based on the lives of tigers at the Isle of Wight Zoo, Sandown was named 'Best Popular Feature Programme of 2007' at the ITV News Group Awards in London.

Claudia Riccio, who produced and directed the show for Athena Films along with Natalie Wilkinson, said: "We are absolutely delighted to win this recognition from ITV, especially as we were up against some tough competition from some first-class programmes."

Judges said the show, screened in June last year, was popular and entertaining and exactly the kind of thing viewers want to watch.
Natalie Wilkinson said: "We are indebted to the staff of the IW Zoo. They pulled out all the stops to help us."

The second series of 'Tiger Island' is due to be screened in the Meridian TV region in May 2008. For more information on screening dates keep your eye on www.itvlocal.com/meridian
