Calling all young storytellers

Do your children love a good story or would they benefit from improving their own storytelling techniques? If so, then two fantastic storytelling events taking place on the Isle of Wight on 9/10 February are sure to appeal.

On Saturday 9 February, Birmingham storyteller, Peter Chand, will be performing his 'tales from the Punjab to the Isle of Wight, which includes an Indian version of the Cinderella story! Budding storytellers aged 9 to 19 will enjoy the 'Begin Storytelling' workshop on Sunday 10 February covering areas such as: Use of Voice, The Body in Storytelling, Space and Pace in Performing, and Crafting the Story. And if you miss this particular session, there's another chance to do it over the February half-term holidays.

What else: Join Storyteller Peter Chand for tales from the Punjab to the Isle of Wight- via the Midlands! Hear of clueless Gurus, monkeys without a voice, and an Indian version of the Cinderella story! All told in Peter's unique and engaging style. Peter has been storytelling since 1999 and has performed in various educational and festival settings all over the UK and has told stories in the Netherlands, Belgium and India.

BEGIN STORYTELLING

What else: These workshops, organised by the Island Storytellers, are for young people aged 9 -19. Professional Storyteller, Peter Chand
(www.chandstory.com), will be helping the young storytellers of tomorrow to learn about the craft of storytelling. Bring along a five- minute story you really enjoy, whether it is a local legend, a ghost story, or a tale from your family, and Peter will help you bring it to life, in a fun and exciting way.
