Heritage Open Days on the Isle of Wight

From Thursday 6th to Sunday 9th September, visitors can experience the Island's fantastic local history, architecture and culture for FREE!

Heritage Open Days celebrate England's fantastic architecture, history and culture. As part of this major national event (coordinated by the Civic Trust and English Heritage), the Isle of Wight is offering you a chance to visit interesting buildings, which would usually be closed to the public or where an admission fee would normally be charged. There is also a variety of guided tours and walks on offer and events include the free opening of Brading and Newport Villas, Dimbola Lodge, Yarmouth Castle, a ghost and history walk around Freshwater Bay and a talk on the ruins of medieval Quarr Abbey.

You can find all the details on the Isle of Wight Council's website, by going to www.iwight.com/conservation and clicking on Heritage Open Days, or pick up a leaflet from Island tourist information centres.
