EXPECT FIREWORKS ON THE ISLE OF WIGHT THIS NOVEMBER 5TH

You can expect fireworks if you're visiting the Isle of Wight this November 5th!

There's a whole range of local events for visitors to enjoy from traditional bonfire and firework displays at schools, towns and villages (see Isle of Wight County Press for full details) to two major celebrations taking place in Sandown and Yarmouth:

Sandown Parade & Celebrations, 5 November 2007

See Sandown's streets as never before when dozens of carnival floats and hundreds of children and adults parade through the town in spectacular costumes and carrying colourful lanterns. Expect live music, food stalls plus a Grand Fireworks Finale. For more information, visit www.sandowncarnival.com

- 6.00pm - Live music on Sandown Esplanade (seafront).
- 6.30pm - The Parade leaves the Town Hall, arrives the Esplanade approx 7.15pm.
- 8.00pm - Grand Fireworks Finale.

Guy Fawkes Night, Yarmouth, 5 November 2007

Celebrate the Gunpowder Plot with a party in this historic town. Get in the mood by entering the Guy Fawkes competition and the Torchlight Parade as it makes its way to the Common to light the beacon. A fantastic fireworks display will round off the evening. - 6.00pm - Ryde 'extreme' performers and the Fat Samba band. Hot soup, mulled wine, hot chestnuts and traditional toffee apples will all be available.
- 6.30pm - Judging of the 'Guys' takes place. Several prizes will be up for grabs, so make sure you bring your Guy to the Square in good time for the judging.
- 7.15pm - the beacon will be lit at 7.15 followed by a firework display. Flaming torches will be on sale for the Torchlight Parade.
