The Powerboat P1 Superstock Championship, the UK ’s fastest growing marine motorsport, will compete at this year’s British Powerboat Festival, taking place at Cowes , Isle of Wight , over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
The decision by P1 to race at Cowes is recognition of the Festival’s growing stature as a premier sporting fixture, organised by the British Powerboat Racing Club (BPRC) and promoted by RB12.com, the masterminds of next year’s Round Britain land, sea and air event.
“We are delighted that Powerboat P1 Superstock and P1 AquaX will be racing with us,” confirms John Moore, Race Director, BPRC. “A sign of a good festival in sport or in music is the quality and depth of the entertainment – the 2011 British Powerboat Festival has both!”
“Last year our Saturday racing programme was not strong,” continues Moore . “This year the public are in for a real treat with competitive racing and spectacular action within metres of the shoreline. This includes the excitement of Match Racing, where craft go head to head over a short course.”
The following day, Sunday 28th, the 250-horsepower Powerboat P1 Superstocks will race from Cowes to Poole and back whilst the top international endurance boats compete in the historic Cowes Torquay Cowes. The inclusion of the Powerboat P1 fleet will bring at least 25 craft to the Festival, reaffirming its position as one of the largest gatherings of powerboats in Europe.
