Whatever the age of your pupils the Island offers the opportunity to bring the National Curriculum to life in many different subjects.
The Island is such a rich resource that it helps meet the National Curriculum requirements through study visits in the best possible atmosphere - one in which learning is fun.
With experience gained over the years, the Isle of Wight Education Centre and Isle of Wight Tourism have designed this website and a supporting range of free work packs to assist teachers in the planning and organisation of a visit, be it a day trip or a week's stay.
With up to 350 short sea crossings each day, the Isle of Wight is the ideal destination for a school day trip or short break. The breathtaking scenery, stunning beaches and over 60 superb visitor attractions are sure to inspire all age groups.
History comes alive in a wealth of historical buildings and exciting exhibitions of dinosaurs, shipwrecks, wax works, smuggling, model railways and a Planetarium. Look and learn whilst enjoying fun days out at adventure and wildlife parks or the steam railway. For more relaxing days you can stroll through forests, vineyards and beautiful gardens.

Over 30 miles of the Islands coastline is designated as Heritage Coast, which provides delightful days out with a range of study options. Rewarding activities include fossil hunting, and discovering the flora, fauna and maritime heritage of coastal settlements. Local marine life can be observed in rockpools and aquaria.
The Isle of Wight offers so many wonderful opportunities for learning through experience that it is one of the UK's most popular and rewarding destinations for a school visit, because it helps meet the National Curriculum requirements through study visits in the best possible atmosphere - one in which learning is fun!
Almost half of the Isle of Wight is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so you don't have to venture far off the beaten track to discover glorious countryside and fascinating wildlife.
Within an area of just 147 square miles, there's a network of over 500 miles of well signposted public rights of way.
There's plenty to do whatever the weather, many attractions are under cover and open all year round and there are leisure activities to suit all ages and interests.
