The Isle of Wight Hospitality Award is a quality marque for restaurants, pubs, tea rooms, cafes, fast food outlets and other eating establishments on the Island. The award aims to celebrate the best in the Isle of Wight’s ‘eating experiences’ and to promote local eateries both to residents and visitors alike.
Local Produce
Our mellow climate ensures that the Isle of Wight is home to a huge variety of local produce; the freshest seafood straight from the fisherman’s catch, locally brewed beer, wine and cider, organic fruit and vegetables and delicious locally made ice creams and deserts.
Food Hygiene Rating Scheme
The Isle of Wight Council participates in the new, national Food Hygiene Rating Scheme which provides consumers with at a-glance information about the standards of food hygiene found by environmental health officers during planned, unannounced inspections.
Ratings on a scale between 0 (meaning Urgent Improvement Necessary) and 5 (meaning Very Good) are published online at www.food.gov.uk/ratings.
Look out for stickers like the one below on the doors and windows of food businesses.
