Type: Guest House
The Barn at Pound Farm, Sandford, was constructed in 1816 and in use until 1994, when it became a redundant building no longer large enough for today's implements. It was at this stage that we started work to convert the property into our family home.
Only when we found we had more room than we needed did we decide to use some of the rooms for Bed & Breakfast.
Close to the Old Thatched Village of Godshill, and standing in six acres of Hay Meadow. There is ample parking for even the largest vehicle.
Nestling among the Milking Parlour, Dairy, Stables and Implement Shed, the feeling of the farmyard is still retained. Cart, churn trolley, pig trailer and old farm machinery complete the scene.
Inside the building many of the old beams have been retained and incorporated into the fireplace, balcony etc. The dining room was once the old Cattle Barn with the Hay Loft above, now furnished with a large farmhouse table. The wall is hung with old farm tools discovered on site during the conversion.
All bedrooms have colour TV and tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer and en-suite toilet, basin and either power shower or corner bath.
Breakfast is full English, or most diets can be catered for if advised in advance.
The rates are £28.00 per person per night - double/twin room.
Single occupancy £36.00 per night.
