Type: Self-Catering
Brookside Cottage is located in the centre of the picturesque village of Shorwell, approximately 2 miles from the sea. Whilst recently modernised, the property dates back to 1700. The cottage has a delightful garden and, as the name suggests, has a little brook running along its full length.
On the ground floor there is a large sitting room. The fully fitted kitchen comes complete with cooking range, washing machine / tumble dryer and microwave. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms (1 king-size with en-suite, 1 twin, 1 bunk bed), and a bathroom (with toilet, basin, bath and overhead shower). The cottage is furnished to a high standard and Wi-Fi internet access is available on request. With double-glazing and a gas central heating system, the cottage is ideal for holidays and short breaks all year round.
Shorwell nestles in a wooded valley, encircled by hills. The village has three manor houses and many thatched and stone built picturesque cottages. The village has a great pub, The Crown Inn, which dates back to the 16th century. The pub has a lovely brook running through its garden (the same one as the cottage, which is directly opposite). The oldest part of the village is known as Westview and is close to the church of St Peter. The church itself dates back to the 12th century. The village also boasts a post office, refronted in Georgian style. At the steep chute leading out of Shorwell where a rustic bridge crosses over the road, there is a car park from where there is access to many lovely downland walks.
